Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some common questions you might have. Always feel free to contact me, no question is too small.

I’m a small business owner and I often feel as if I have the weight of the world on my shoulders. I hate it. Can you help me?

Let’s talk.

  • Do you know where you’re going and how you plan to get there?
  • When was the last time you developed a Strategic Plan?
  • Do you have a Mission Statement?
  • Do you have a Vision statement?
  • What are your organizations Core Values?
  • How in sync is your Executive Team?

Everyone at our company is working really hard all the time but we never seem to make any progress. How can you help?

Having a well thought out action plan will allow you and your team to work toward a common goal, thereby making progress in a united manner. Working hard is commendable. Smart and to a succinct calendar as a team is often more rewarding.

What’s up with all these letters: INTJ, S, D and why should I care?

The letters are a short-hand which allows us to understand our interactions with one another in a way which depersonalizes situations. If can categorize behavior or personality styles into basic buckets, I can see situations more objectively, take things less personally. If you and I can sit down together knowing that you are “D” and I am a “C” and Ds and Cs typically.

Which is better DISC or Myers-Briggs?

One is not necessarily better than the other. What are you looking to accomplish? One is behavior based and the other is personality based. They can stand alone or complement one another.

  • DISC can allow you to get at communication issues/barriers within your team. It can provide tips to communicate more effectively with team members.
  • Myers Briggs will allow you to understand how others gather data, make decisions, and respond to the environment around them.

Is it true that you have fired clients?

YES it is. My clients must commit to growth and change and be willing to look at all the data.

I know where I want to go, how do I get there?

Strategic planning is essential to achieving your organizational goals. Your strategic plan serves as a roadmap as you work to accomplish your key initiatives.

I like my staff but I’m not sure they can do the job I need them to do. Where do I go from here?

If you have provided tools and resources I suggest Benchmarking the position so that you have a quantitative measurement of the position and you can make an accurate assessment of your employee’s abilities.

My team seems to be operating on their own, how can I help them work together?

This is common in today’s workplace. Everyone is putting their head down to get the job done they often miss the opportunity to explore synergies between them. Let’s talk about teambuilding opportunities.

We have a key employee we cannot afford to lose but no one else can work with him. I’m scared that this may be a “hostile workplace.” What do I do?

A hostile work environment cannot be tolerated, no matter the perception of the employee’s value. Any employee who creates an intimidating, offensive, or abusive, environment must be dealt with without delay.

  • Allowing an employee to treat other employees in this manner creates a liability issue for your organization.

What’s the difference between managers and leaders

Excellent question and every organization needs both!

  • Managers tend to be more focused on tasks, control of their staff and structured in their approach. Employees work hard for their manager in accomplishing departmental goals.
  • Leaders tend to be more visionary in their approach, empowering, and spontaneous in their approach. Employees will follow a leader to accomplish a greater goal.

How do I get my managers to bring out the best in their people? How can I bring out the best in them?

Motivation is key! One size does not fit all and the best way to energize your team, maximize their efforts and help them shine is to know what motivates each individual. Once you know their motivators you’ll be on your way to a more energized team.

What brings out the best in you?

Clients who are passionate and are committed to the process. A client who is willing to take charge of their growth is exciting, exhilarating and motivating.
